Product dispensing machine: custom interface, analytics and reporting
The project started with a new interface for an imported product dispensing machine. We retained the existing server and hardware and rebuilt the interface with support for multiple languages. We also extended the project with analytics and reporting built on the existing database, delivering reports by SMTP email and transferring files through FTP for import into other ERP systems.

The problem
The original interface was completely unreadable for the warehouse staff — entirely foreign and designed with zero regard for UX. Instead of streamlining the dispensing of tools and warehouse products, it caused queues. Replacing the machine wasn't an option because the hardware worked perfectly.

It started with an interface. It grew into a reporting system.
The initial scope covered the interface layer. During the project, we expanded the solution to work with data already held in the database, from analysing withdrawals to delivering reports and files for further processing across the business.

The interface works with the existing machine server. We also built an analytics and reporting system using the existing database. Data can be analysed by period, item and employee and exported to XLSX and CSV. Reports reach recipients through SMTP email, while files transferred via FTP can be imported into other ERP systems. This is a file exchange workflow; the import process depends on the receiving system.
Result
The project covers both everyday machine operation and the company’s use of its data. Operators gained a clear multilingual interface, while warehouse teams gained analytics, reports and a way to pass data into subsequent business processes. The solution uses the existing hardware, server and database.
